Orville Rosenburg

Orville L. Rosenburg, age 90, of Millcreek, passed away Monday March 13, 2017 at Pleasant Ridge Manor.

He was born in Erie on July 4, 1926, a son of the late Gerald W. and Hazel B. Alexander Rosenburg.

Orville attended Millcreek High School and enlisted in the U.S.C.G Merchant Marin attaining the rank of Quarter Master. He served in the Atlantic and Mediterranean War Zone and received combat bar with a silver star for ship sunk.

He was a machine operator for R.P. and C. Valve Company in Fairview and was a member of the International Association of Machinists. He retired in 1988 after 25 years of service.

Orville enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a member of the Federated Church in E. Springfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Lusene Rosenburg, and his second wife, Mary Lou Dodge Allshouse Rosenburg (2016); a step son, David Allshouse (2017); and two sisters, Shirley Byrd and Myrna Rosenburg.

Orville is survived by his children: Verna Jean (John) Homan of Lake City, Keith F. (Debbie) Rosenburg of Girard and Kevin G. Rosenburg (companion, Dale) of East Springfield; step children, Denise Allshouse-Free (Matt) of Greenville and Simon Dodge of Jamestown, NY; and his siblings, Donald L. Rosenburg of Friendswood, TX, Arlene Zezzo of Dayton, OH and Geri Smith of Corpus Christi, TX. He is further survived by 5 grandchildren, 7great grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East in Girard on Friday from 5 pm until the time of the service at 6pm.with Rev. Brock Beveridge officiating. Full military honors will be observed at 6pm prior to the service.
