Patricia Dietly

Patricia S. Dietly, age 98, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center. She was born in Canton, Ohio, January 30, 1925 to the late Harrison and Beatrice Coy Strickler.

Patricia attended Lake Erie College and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in music composition and piano performance. She was very active in Erie with the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant serving as both an Elder and Trustee, the Erie Homes for Children and Adults where she was a Board member for 45 years, the Carrie T. Watson Garden Club, and P.E.O. International.  At her summer home at Chautauqua Institution, she served on the Boards of the Institution, the Presbyterian House, and the Chautauqua Women’s Club.  Patricia was an avid golfer, tennis player, skier, and traveler as well as a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority.

She is survived by her children, David Dietly (Patricia) of McLean, VA, and Bree Dietly of Somerville, MA. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law Margaret Dietly of Chautauqua, NY; by her grandchildren, Matthew Dietly (Nichole), Abigail Kielbasa (Quinn), Megan Dietly; and by two great grandchildren on the way in April.   

In addition to her parents, Patricia is preceded in death by her husband Robert, and her sister, June Sanger.

Friends are invited to call on the family Sunday, March 5, 2023, at First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, in the parlor, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the sanctuary, Monday at 11am with Rev. Chris Weichman presiding. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Service Inc. Downtown 602 W. 10^th Street, Erie.
