Norman R. (Bob) Sandstrom age 77, of Lake City, passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016.
He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on September 6, 1938, a son of the late Hugo and Hilda Sandstrom.
He served his country in the United States Air Force and was a Meteorologist for NOAA. He received special accommodations for his part in the early detection of the Albion tornado and helped save lives.
Bob was a former member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Niagra Falls, an active member of the Luther League, was a longstanding member of the American Legion and was charitable to causes that were close to his heart.
He enjoyed playing hockey and was a member of the over 30 hockey league in NY, and also enjoyed golfing and photography, his favorite subject being his family.
Bob was a lifelong fan of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his saving grace and his greatest joy was spending time with him. In the last years of his life, his heart was full and he was content knowing that he was always deeply loved by those he held dear.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordy Sandstrom; sister in law, Peggy Sandstrom; brother in law, Watson Mccalister; and his former wife, Georgianna Sandstrom.
He is survived by four sons, Butch, Scott, and William Sandstrom and Charles Boykin; a daughter, Margaret Burton and her husband Chris; two sisters, Gail McCalister and Lori Lankes; and his loving companion, Robbie Boykin. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m.
