Norman P. Nowak, age 95, of Erie and formerly of Painesville, OH died on Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Fairview Manor with Carm and Nancy by his side.
He was born on June 20, 1919 in Cleveland, OH, son of the late Mae Samstag and Peter Nowak.
He graduated from Willoughby High School and then served in the Army as a paratrooper with the 11th Airbourne Division in the South Pacific during WWII.
Norman was a machinist at Citco Diamond Tool in Chardon, OH and retired from there at age 80 in 2000. He moved to Erie with his only daughter when she relocated in 2005.
He enjoyed golf, bowling, playing cards, polka dancing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Bob Fitzmaurice; sister Lillian Lashley; brothers, Bill Gallen, Roy Gallen and Jack Gallen.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Carmella; his daughter Nancy Walsh and her husband Joseph; and five grandchildren, Mary Grace, Jonathan, and Allie Fitzmaurice and Shawn and Carly Walsh, all of Erie
Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass on Saturday March 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude The Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th St. Private burial in Mentor, OH.
