Norma Langdon

Norma Jean Langdon age 91, of Millcreek, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at LECOM Senior Living. 

She was born in Sagamore, PA on January 30, 1932, daughter of the late Clair and Vada Weaver McCurdy. 

Norma graduated from Shannock Valley High School and subsequently moved to Harborcreek, PA, where she met her husband of 68 years, Martin Howard Langdon who preceded her in death in 2019.  

In her younger years, Norma worked as a switchboard operator at Bell Telephone. Later working as admission staff at Saint Vincent Surgery Center and Hamot Medical Center from where she retired.  

Norma enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and card games with the family.  She crocheted numerous afghans and loved crossword puzzles.  Norma and Howard spent their winter months in Florida, enjoying many special times with Norma’s siblings, as well as their children and grandchildren on trips to Parkesdale Market.  While their children were in school, Norma and Howard also attended many of the McDowell Marching Band competitions, which they both loved.

In addition to her husband, Norma is preceded in death by an infant son, a granddaughter Regan Langdon, her infant sister Virginia Lee McCurdy, elder sister, Helen McCurdy Hoover and, two brothers, Raymond McCurdy, and James McCurdy.  

She is survived by one brother Clair “Mac” McCurdy, five children, David Langdon, Judith (David) Mathis, Janice (Bob) Hammar, Linda (Anthony) Sitter, and Scott Langdon, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th Street on Tuesday, January 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
