Nora J. Galbraith Smith, age 58, of Erie, passed away at her residence, surrounded by family on June 22, 2018. Nora “fought the battle but lost the war” against cancer. She was born on August 28, 1959, a daughter of the late William G. and Nancy Logan Galbraith.
Nora was a 1977 graduate of McDowell High School and furthered her education to become a Registered Nurse. She worked in a wide variety of health care for 35 years, until her retirement in 2018. Nora was an active member of Lakewood United Methodist Church and her family and grandchildren were the love of her life. She enjoyed golf and horseshoes and was very good at both, as well as being an avid Penguins and Indians fan. She had a passion for her gardens and loved the outdoors, birds, camping and hiking and family trips to the zoo.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Glenn Flickinger.
Nora is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Timothy E. Smith, and their children, Amanda (Joe) Reisenauer, of Erie, Kyle L. (Cynthia Christley)Thomas, of Cleveland, OH, Rachel (Andrew Fennick) Smith, of Pittsburgh, PA, Andrew W. (Amanda M.) Thomas, of Erie, and Kevin G. (Katie) Thomas, of Chesapeake, VA, as well as nine grandchildren. She is further survived by five siblings, Anne Flickinger, Julie (Dan) Goodman, Dr. William (Diane) Galbraith, Joan Gerald, Dr. Theodore Galbraith, and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St., Erie on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 3856 W. 10th St., Erie on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 10 a.m., with Reverend Bob Lewis presiding.
