Nicholas “Nick” Kenneth Smith, age 62, of Erie passed away at Golden Living Center Western Reserve on Thursday, December 26, 2013.
Nicholas was born in Pensacola, Florida on October 2, 1951 to the parents of Mildred (Leggen) Smith and the late Melvin Smith.
He moved to Buffalo, NY at a young age and attended elementary and high school there. He also attended trade schools in Buffalo, and earned a certificate in machining.
Nicholas was baptized at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Buffalo, NY where he was a long time member until he moved to Erie, PA and continued his machining career, recently retiring from the Erie Coke plant.
Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a close friend, Farrell Maynard.
Nicholas leaves to mourn, his mother Mildred Smith of Buffalo, NY; brother Melvin Smith, Jr. of Chicago, IL; sister Cynthia (Richard) Hammond of Buffalo, NY; sons Jamaal Smith of Erie, PA, Nicholas Smith, Jr. of Buffalo, NY; daughters Nicole Smith of Erie, PA, Sharnise Perkins of Dowagiac, MI; stepson Malcolm (Stacy) Pullium of Erie, PA; stepdaughter Cassie Hathaway of Erie, PA; his grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He is further survived by Goddaughter Tatanisha Pullium of Erie, PA, and a special mention to Mary Pullium and Mamie Clegg both of Erie, PA as faithful friends.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 602 W. 10th Street on Thursday, January 2, 2014 from 11 am until the time of the service at 3 pm.
