Nicholas "Nick" George Lucas, Jr., age 63, of Girard, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at his residence of natural causes. Born July 22, 1949, in Erie, he was a son of the late Nicholas George and Geraldine Ruth Stanton Lucas, Sr,
Nick was a Fairview High School graduate and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed as a tool maker in Erie for many years and was very proud of his patented invention. Nick enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling and trips to Trout Run in the fall. He was a member of Girard American Legion Post 494, the Vietnam Veterans Association and had been affiliated with Alcoholics Anonymous.
In addition to his parents, Nick was preceded in death by his sisters Diana and Donna.
He is survived by his children: Renee (Patrick) Wahlenmayer, Rebecca (Christopher) Banish, Vincent (Sarah Taylor) Lucas, Ashley Lucas and Ryan (Vicky Cutshall) Lucas, and their mother Deloris; three brothers: Daniel, Douglas, and Joseph; six sisters: Christine, Kathleen, Colleen, Audrey, Mary and Barbara; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks are extended to his caregiver and close friend, Candy, of LCNI Nursing Service.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at noon with Rev. Edward Huntley officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
