Nellie Wright

February 22, 1939 — May 12, 2018

Nellie L. Wright, age 79, of Fairview, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Saint Vincent Hospital.  She was born in Bridgewater, PA on February 22, 1939, a daughter of the late William Alfred and Anna Mae (Philips) Radcliff.

Nellie attended Beaver County Area Schools in her youth and as an adult was very involved in church related activities in addition to being a wonderful mother raising her daughters. In later years she enjoyed working part-time at various restaurants in the Erie area and with her love of sewing and crafting made her own outfits for working at McDonald’s and affectionately became known as “McGramma”.

Nellie loved the Lord, loved people and was very social throughout her life. She taught Sunday school, Children’s Church ministry, singing and playing music and in addition loved the outdoors and gardening. More than anything, Nellie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who cherished time spent with all her family and was very proud to pass along her musical love to her daughters and grandchildren.

She was a member of Wesleyan Holiness Association and then later a member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister’s Nola Radcliff and Elsie (Radcliff) Hart as well as stepson Gary Wright.

Nellie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary L. Wright whom she cherished and they were great companions and loved sharing all parts of their lives together.

She is further survived by stepson Jeff Wright, Erie; daughters Sharen (Horton) Young, and husband Bob of Midland, PA; Karen (Horton) Canada, Orange City, FL; Brenda (Horton) Carter, husband Jim, Sparta, TN. Sisters Jackie (Radcliff) Davidson of Beaver, PA; Mary Rose (Radcliff) Blattner and husband Pete of Freedom, PA; Joyce (Radcliff) Stone of Bradenton, FL and Tootie (Radcliff) Paugh of Philadelphia, PA all survive Nellie.

Many grandchildren including Bud and Julie Young of Rogers, OH, Dan and Rachel Young of East Liverpool, OH, Bruce Young of Rogers, OH, Austin Young of Nashville, TN, Brenton and Ashley Mayhle of Christmas, FL, Cassey Mayhle of Greeley, Colorado, Jessey Mayhle of Mesa, AZ, Billie and Brandi Mayhle of Clinton, TN, Cher and Tony Kersh of Lawton, OK, Chris Kersh, of  Nashville, TN, Sabrina Yearwood of Mesquite, TX, Scott and Nicole Kersh of Spencer, TN and Brittany and Matt Ward of Sparta, TN all survive. Additionally, 23 great grandchildren further survive.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, on Wednesday May 16th, 2018 from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m., with the Reverend Clarence Mayhle of Wesleyan Methodist Church, presiding.  Burial will be private at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
