Nellie Reid

Nellie T. Reid, age 103, of Erie, and formerly of Corry, PA passed away Sunday July 30, 2017 at Elmwood Gardens.

She was born May 3, 1914 in Corry, PA, the daughter of the late Nels and Anna Styrback Thompson. Growing up in Corry, she attended the Harding School and both Corry Junior and Senior High Schools, then two years at Erie Business School, before working as a timekeeper at Aero Supply for 28 years, and as a clerk at the Erie County Courthouse for eight years.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Corry, PA and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading books, cooking, collecting recipes and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by her husband, James I. Reid; a brother, Arthur Thompson; two sisters Edith Hayes and Eva Falcone; and infant daughter Carolyn; a niece Carolyn Gialloreto; an infant granddaughter; and niece Carol Deutschlander, whom she raised.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Gialloreto and husband Fred; granddaughter Diane Lukas; great granddaughter, Carolyn Lukas, all of Erie; grandson Michael Gialloreto of Sheridan, NY; great grandson Nicholas Gialloreto of Columbus, OH; great granddaughter, Jennifer Gialloreto of Los Angeles, CA; granddaughter Linda Gialloreto and great granddaughter Annalyn Soehnlein, both of Mesa, AZ; great nephew James Deutschlander and great-great nephew, Jimmy Deutschlander; great-great niece Danielle Deutschlander; great-great nephew, Ryan Deutschlander; all of Erie; niece Barb Casler of Cantonment, FL; and nephew Bob Falcone, of Denison, TX.

Services and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery were private and entrusted to Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26^th Street Erie, PA 16506.
