Natalina Giammario Faraglia, age 91, of Erie passed away peacefully at St. Vincent hospital surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, June 29. 2017.
She was born on December 25, 1925 in Rocca Pia , L’Aquila Italy the daughter of the late Pasquale and Edvige DiSantis Giammario
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Francesco C. Faraglia ; her two brothers, Remo Giammario of Erie and Pietro Giammario of Melbourne, Australia; sisters-in-law Antoinette Giammario of Melbourne, Australia and Anna DiPietro of Pescara, Italy; brothers-in-law Giuseppe Rossi of Melbourne, Australia, Ezio Mosaner of Trento, Italy, Paolo Faraglia and Pasqualina Faraglia of L’Aquila Italy.
Natalina is survived by her loving and caring children; Nicola (Nick) Faraglia of Erie and Anna Faraglia of Euclid, Ohio. She is the sister of Enrico Giammario and Olga Rossi, both of Melbourne, Australia and the sister –in –law of Teresa Giammario of Erie and Angelina Mosaner of Trento, Italy. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Natalina immigrated to the United States in October of 1955 to work at her cousin’s restaurant, Hectors Café. She worked there in the kitchen cooking and helping with food preparation until 1991. In 1960 she received her naturalization papers and became a United States citizen. In 1962 she traveled to Italy to meet and marry her beloved husband Frank and returned to Erie to raise their family. Family was very important to Natalina and she treasured the times spent with her family and friends either at the holidays or just around the Sunday dinner table. She was a humble and religious woman whose Catholic faith played into all parts of her life. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 51 years and also belonged to the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Erie Lodge 921.
Natalina’s children would like to thank her loving caregiver, Roberta Lucchetti for the daily care she provided to their mother. In addition, her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Walter Johns and staff at Glenwood Internal Medicine; Dr. Sam Ward and staff at Consultants in Cardiology, and Dr. Thomas Fessler at Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine.
Friends are invited to call at the John J. Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Monday at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Ave., Erie, PA 16505 or to the Sacred Heart Food Pantry, 816 West 26th St., Erie, PA 16508.
