Nancy A. Smith age 59, of Fairview, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Erie on December 29, 1953, a daughter of Robert E. Brotherson Sr. and his wife Carole of Erie and Patricia A. Bennett and her husband Kenneth L. of Union City.
She graduated from East High School in 1973.
Nancy worked as a school bus driver for the Fairview School District for over 25 years.
She was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Erie Silent Club, and the Harley Owners Group (HOG).
Nancy loved to ride her motorcycle, was an excellent cook and enjoyed home improvement projects. She loved spending time with her children and her family and was the rock that held them all together.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Brotherson in 2007.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband of over 38 years, Gary Smith of Fairview; a son Brennan Smith and a daughter Lauren Smith both of Erie; three brothers, Robert E. Brotherson Jr., Ken J. Brotherson both of Erie and David A. Brotherson of Girard; two sisters, Roberta Ebert (Larry) and Sonja Nekoloff (John) all of Erie; and a grandson Joseph Pazienza of CA. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle Church 2801 W. 6th Street Erie, Pa 16505 with the Very Rev. John Detisch, V.F. Celebrant.
Burial will be private in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
