Myrtle Wilson

January 26, 1922 — March 20, 2015

Myrtle “Mimi” Wilson, age 93, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West.

She was born in Erie, on January 26, 1922, a daughter of the late Leo and Fern Auer.

Myrtle married Charles A. Wilson on January 5, 1946, together they owned and operated a dairy farm until retirement. She also worked as a short-order cook and waitress at Griswold, Penn Union and Kim Kraft. She was known for her oil paintings as well as her baking. She also enjoyed sewing, music and writing. Her paintings, poetry and articles won many awards over the years. Myrtle was an ex vice commander in the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Unit 73. She volunteered for over eleven years at the Erie Veterans Administration Medical Center and was a member of the Northwestern Senior Center.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Charles Wilson; daughter, Sandra Wilson Payne and sister, Eileen Dembrowski.

Myrtle is survived by her sons and their families, Lynn and Sharon Wilson of Saegertown and Scott and Diana Wilson of Cranesville, and her sister, Leola Gorney of Kansas. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three nieces.
