Morris Levine

Morris A. Levine, age 100, of Erie, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the VA Medical Center.  He was born in Philadelphia on June 4, 1918 to the late Louis and Tillie Cohen Levine.

Morris graduated from Academy High School.   He served in the 106th Division Infantry of the United States Army during World War II.   He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was captured and was held as a POW.  Morris married the former Minnie Boxinbaum and together they owned Levine Auto Supply in Wesleyville for many years.  He was an active member of Congregation B’rith Sholom.

In addition to his beloved 1st wife, Minnie, he was preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Myrtle Fox, a son-in-law, Robert Snyderman, three brothers and a sister.

Morris is survived by two daughters, Marian Setzman and her husband, Frank of FL and Cheryl Snyderman of Baltimore; a son Sidney Levine and his wife, Arlene Carlton of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren, Rebecca Becker, Matthew Becker, Daniel Setzman, Meredith Setzman, Philip Levine, Molly Levine, Corey Snyderman and Melody Snyderman; and two great grandchildren, Henry and Benjamin Becker.  He is further survived by a sister, Ruth Levine of Philadelphia and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on the family at Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 W. 26th St., on Friday, September 28th from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2 p.m., with Rabbi Mark Goodman officiating.   Burial will follow at C.B.S. Cemetery, 26th and Asbury, with full military honors.
