Mildred Higgins

Mildred A. Higgins, age 92, of Lake City, died Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. She was born in Fairview on February 4, 1921, a daughter of the late John and Mary Bausch Fischer.

Mildred was a graduate of Fairview High School and was a homemaker. She was a member of Girard Alliance Church.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by four sisters: Florence, Pauline, Emma and Ester; and six brothers: George, Clarence, Paul, Alfred, Theodore and Albert. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Owen Higgins; a son, Donald O. Higgins and his wife Linda of Girard, three grandsons: Brian Higgins and his wife Stephanie of VA, Benjamin Higgins and his wife Kathleen of Waterford and Bradley Higgins of Girard; three great granddaughters: Emma McFarland, Ava Higgins and Olivia Higgins; three great grandsons: Noah Higgins, Aidan McFarland and Owen Higgins; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East in Girard on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday in Burton’s All Faiths Chapel with Rev. Jerry Devine officiating. Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Manor Volunteer Services, 8300 West Ridge Road, Girard, PA 16417.
