Mildred “Kay” Campbell, age 96, of Millcreek, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Fairview Manor. She was born June 30, 1920 in Sligo, PA daughter of the late Raymond and Julia (Lowe) Callen. She graduated from Sligo High School.
After high school, Kay worked during World War II in Patterson, NJ as an inspector on B-17’s and was very proud to serve her country in this capacity. After the war she continued working at Talon in Meadville, PA. She also worked for many years at P.F. Donahue’s in the West Erie Plaza while raising her family and again after her children were grown.
More than anything Kay loved her children and grandchildren, yet she had many interests and hobbies including reading novels, watching and following the PGA, was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Los Angeles Lakers. In her later years she enjoyed shopping on the QVC Network.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, John E. Campbell in 1996.
She is survived by her children, James R. of Millcreek; William T. (Karen) of Lake City; John E. (Karen) New Mexico; Cathy E. DeSomma (Louis) of Pittsburgh and Mark P. also of Millcreek. Kay is further survived by 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Ave) on Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service there on Friday at 10 a.m.
