Michele Deangelis

July 4, 1954 — July 8, 2020

Michele Lynn DeAngelis, age 66, passed away on Wednesday July 8, 2020 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge.  She was born July 4, 1954 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and lived in nearby White Oak.

She attended McKeesport High School and was in the school marching band. She graduated from Michigan State University in 1975 with a degree in packaging Engineering. After graduation in she worked as a packaging engineer for Kodak in Rochester, NY where she developed improved packaging of photographic paper.  She later moved on to Carnation Foods in Los Angeles, CA where she was responsible for the installation of packaging equipment at various locations in the U.S.  After working for Carnation, Michele started a packaging consulting business, MLD Associates. 

Michele developed MS in her 30’s and fought a courageous battle with the disease.  The MS eventually forced her to leave the work force and move to Winter Springs, Florida to be near her best friend Claudia. There she was able to lead a full life thanks to Claudia’s help. Michele enjoyed golfing, cycling, bowling, casinos, traveling, dining out, investing, the Steelers, and all Michigan State sports.  She was also skilled at producing stained glass artwork and taught classes in stained glass. 

As her MS progressed and began to limit her mobility, she moved to Erie, PA to St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge Assisted Living and later to their skilled nursing facility.  Michele received wonderful care at St. Mary’s and made many friends there, especially her good friend and aid, Kayla.

Michele was preceded in death by her parents, George and Alberta DeAngelis, her aunts, uncles and several cousins. 

 

Michele is survived by her brother and his wife, Daryl and Jane DeAngelis, a niece, Melissa Crase her husband Karl and their daughter Amelia, a nephew, Ryan DeAngelis, his wife Maria, and their daughter Anna, Cousins Barb Campbell, Patrick Campbell, Richard Campbell, Jeff Campbell and Henry Biaggi, her good friend Claudia Travers, and her many friends from Kodak and Carnation who have expressed so many kind words on her behalf. 

A graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery,  1443 Lincoln Hwy, North Versailles, PA 15137, on Tuesday, August 11th at 11 a.m.  Arrangements entrusted to Burton Quinn Scott Cremation & Funeral Services at West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St.   Memorials may be made to The James E.
