Michael Edward Zill, age 37, of Fairview, peacefully passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at UPMC Hamot surrounded by his immediate family.
He was born in Erie, on September 1, 1977, a son of William M. and Nancy L. Zill.
Michael graduated from Fairview High School and attended the Barber Center, Girard Campus. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Fairview American Legion Post #742. Michael loved music, fishing and going to the family’s camp with his grandfather. He enjoyed bowling and bowled for the Special Olympics. Michael also loved baseball, going to Seawolves games and participating in the Meca Challenge Baseball League. During football season, he could be found watching his beloved Steelers. He loved watching TV, The Price is Right and Big Bang Theory were his favorites.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Elsa Bateman; grandparents, William and Catherine Zill; his special uncle, Paul Bateman.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his sister Michelle Zill (Michael Holden); and his grandfather, who he lovingly referred to as “My Buddy”, William Bateman. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins; as well as many special friends and aides.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, in Girard, on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm., and are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 11 am, in the All Faith Chapel with Reverend Thomas Tyler officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barber Center Girard Campus, 1126 Lake St. Girard, PA 16417 or Meca Challenger League Baseball, PO Box 8245, Erie, PA 16505.
