Michael Sorze

On Thursday May 26, 2022, Michael R. Sorze of Girard was called to his heavenly home at the age of 71.  The world lost a great husband, father and grandfather.

He was born in Erie, PA on September 12, 1950, a son of the late Anthony and Mona Roberts Sorze.

Mike was a 1969 graduate of McDowell High School.  He was an IBEW Local #56 Electrician and spent most of his career being an estimator/project manager.

Most people liked to call him “Mikey”, he was one of those guys that could figure out how to design, build or repair anything.  He was the “go to” for a lot of his friends. Mike was very active in the Christian community here and in Florida where he and Darlene would spend the winters being “snowbirds”.  He enjoyed fishing, and doing remodeling projects with his son.  He was a member of the Family Church in Erie, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Susan Southworth and brother in law, Reed Potter.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Darlene Sorze; a son, Dean (Shelly) Novak of Fairview, a sister, Sandy (David) Gribble of Pittsburgh, brothers in law, Charles Potter of Erie and David Potter of Florida, a grandson, Conner Novak of Fairview and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday June 1, 2022 at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. Girard from 4:00PM until time of service at 7:00PM.
