Michael Salmen

Michael D. “Denny” Salmen, age 72, of Erie, passed away Thursday July 4, 2013 at the Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in Erie.

He was born November 5, 1940 son of the late Ernest and Geraldine Bolger Salmen.

Michael served in the U.S. Navy and worked at Eriez Magnetics for over 38 years. He loved his golden retriever dogs, and enjoyed camping and water-skiing. He was also an excellent cook.

In addition to his parents Michael was preceded in death by his sister Joan Gnage.

Michael is survived by his wife Judy (Shaffer); his son Timothy M. Salmen of Erie; his sister Jacqueline Salmen-Smith (Vern) of Erie; and an aunt Audrey Boyd. He is also survived by brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces and nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Private services and burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery with Deacon Tony Alleruzzo officiating will be held at the convenience of the family.
