Michael Peightal

January 28, 1950 — April 5, 2021

Michael Peightal age 71 of Erie, passed away on Monday April 5, 2021 at LECOM at Presque Isle.

 

He was born in Philipsburg, PA on January 28, 1950 a son of the late Preston and Alice Richards Peightal.

 

Michael graduated from Iroquois High School in 1967, where he played football and wrestled, then from

 

Penn State University in 1977. He also received an Advanced degree from Case Western University in 1998.

 

He worked at Hamot Hospital as a mental health counselor and retired from the Erie Country Care

 

Management as a case manager.

 

He was inducted into WILP (Wesleyville Iroquois Lawrence Park) Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the 1966 undefeated football team. He had a passion for and loved going to Penn State football games, with his family.  He was an avid music aficionado, and loved history, following his father’s footsteps.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a niece Amie Peightal Taylor.

 

Michael is survived by a sister, Norma (Glenn) Buchanan; two brothers, Kent (Debbi) Peightal and Mark (Janet) Peightal; several nieces and nephews, Alex, Cortney, Meghan, Ashley, Tori, Devon, Farren, and Brian.

The family would like to say thank you to the LECOM Health Nursing and Rehabilitation and the VNA Hospice doctors, nurses and staff for the excellent care they gave to Michael.

 

Services and burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery were held private at the convenience of the family by the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge 3801 W. 26th Street, Erie, P A16506.

 

Memorials may be made to a Charity of One’s Choice.
