Michael W. Norman, formerly of Jamestown, N.Y. and Moultrie, Ga., passed away peacefully at the age of 58, on Dec. 10, 2013, at Corry Manor in Corry, Pa., after an extended illness.
Michael, also fondly known as ''Big Mike,'' ''Bubba'' and ''Fat Freddy,'' was a wellknown and respected local musician and a trusted and beloved friend to many.
Born May 13, 1955, Michael was raised in Moultrie, by Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Norman. He graduated from Moultrie Senior High and Moultrie Technical College.
A skilled guitarist and vocalist in the genres of country, rock, bluegrass, blues and gospel, Michael began his performing career early in life. Best known for his part in Lonestar of Jamestown, Michael also performed in Rocky Ridge in Moultrie, San Antonio Rose, Vocalescence, Shy Ann, Truth, Repeat Offender, Homegrown, The Saloonatics and many other bands in the Jamestown area.
He is survived by a wife, Cindy Norman of Jamestown, N.Y.; a daughter, Nicole Norman of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and his treasured grandchildren: Zevhanna Pearl, Phillip and Atticus, also of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
