Michael A.T. Loundes, age 66, of Erie passed away on March 27, 2013 in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born on February 23, 1947 in Walsall, England, he was the son of the late Samuel Henry and Myra Elizabeth Elwell Loundes.
Michael graduated from Walsall Technical College, England and attained his Masters Degree from Gannon University. He was a mechanical engineer and designed trains for British Rail, General Electric, Supersteel and Ansaldo Breda.
He was a longstanding member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church. He loved golf, gardening and model trains. He was also a very skilled carpenter. He loved traveling with his family, especially his grandchildren and was an avid Manchester United Soccer fan.
Survivors include his wife, Olga whom he married 42 years ago; daughters: Rachel (David) Hughes of McKean; Mary-Beth (Jeffrey) Cardo of North Carolina; Angela (James) Michie of Hong Kong; grandchildren that he adored: Devon, Gabriel, Jonah, Emily, Meagan, Alexis, Elizabeth, Nara Jane. He is also survived by brothers: John (Christine) Loundes of Australia, Geoffrey (Rita) Loundes of Cyprus, Derek (Anne) Loundes of England and Stephen (Anne) Loundes of England.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Monday from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A Service of the Burial of the Dead will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Dr. Richard Elberfield, The Rev. Dr. Donald Baxter and The Rev. Melissa Adzima officiating followed by the Committal Service at the St. Mark's Columbarium.
