Michael K. D'Amico

February 7, 1942 — August 25, 2024

Erie

Michael Kenneth ("Mike") D’Amico, age 82, passed away on August 25, 2024. He was born February 7, 1942 in Erie to the late Rose and Alfred D’Amico.

Mike was a dedicated family man and active member of Erie’s business community. He was a 1960 graduate of Strong Vincent High School and later studied real estate at Penn State Behrend. A realtor by profession, Mike was co-owner of Holland Metro Inc., Realtors, served as the 1985 President of the Greater Erie Board of Realtors, and was involved in the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors. His dedication to the field led to being named the Greater Erie Board’s Realtor of the Year in 1989.

Mike’s community leadership was a point of principle, having been Chair of the Northwest PA Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and a Board Member of the United Way of Erie County. He was also a long-time member of the Erie Maennerchor Club and Lake Shore Country Club, and attended St. Jude the Apostle Church for nearly 50 years, where he could still be found until recently most Sunday mornings.

Early in life, Mike was an accomplished musician, playing jazz guitar professionally by the age of 14 and later privately and for his family. Many of his fondest memories were as a teacher and mentor, first as a private music instructor and then Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Reserves, and later as an adjunct faculty member at Mercyhurst College and a guide for so many early career realtors.

He is most remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, who enjoyed Sunday dinners and rounds of golf with family and friends. He could often be found quietly, guitar in hand, by the fireplace, living a peaceful life.

He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of nearly 57 years, Helen D’Amico, his children Mary (Todd) DeBello and Mark (Leigh) D’Amico, his sister-in-law Lisa Burns who was like a daughter, his granddaughters Anna and Sara DeBello and Sophia D’Amico, his sisters Rebecca (Joseph) Nardo and Patricia (Joseph) Colonna, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the church. A service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery will follow.
