Michael (Malik) H. Banal, Jr., age 36, passed away after a long battle with the disease of addiction at UPMC Hamot.
He was born in Pittsburgh, on February 26, 1979, a son of Joanne Christy Staley and the late Michael Banal, Sr.
Michael had worked as a barber at various shops. He loved radio control cars and taking care of his children. He will forever be remembered as being a great big brother to his five sisters. He will live on in their hearts and in their memory.
In addition to his mother and step father, Mark Staley, he is survived by his wife, Rosa Lasanta Banal; and a daughter, Michaela Banal of Erie; four step children, Shaquil, Jamie, Amarosa and Yasna; five sisters: Vanessa Cruise (Jason), Taliah Banal, Rachel, Markie and Henley Staley, all of Pittsburgh. He is further survived by two nieces: Peja and Prudence; as well as many cousins and his very dear friend Tom Allen.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, 602 W. 10th Street on Tuesday from 1pm until the time of sharing at 3pm. Memorials may be made to an education fund being set up for his daughter, Michaela. Please contact Joanne Staley, joan4stal@verizon.net
