It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mervin Eugene Work, who peacefully departed this life on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at the age of 85.
He was born on August 1, 1939, in Elk County, Pennsylvania, to the late Wilbur and Estella (Bachman) Work.
Outside of work, Mervin loved the outdoors. He spent time fishing, camping and four-wheeling with his wife, Rosemary, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mervin is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Lynn Watson; brother, Warren Work and sisters, Ida (Work) Smead and Joann (Work) Morgan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Rosemary (Kaminski) Work; his four children, Mervin Work Jr., Jeffrey Work (Melinda), Carla Stone (Thomas) and Kathy Good (David); Rosemary's three children, Jason Collins, Brenda (Paul) Landis and Dana Collins (Kathy) and his sister, Mildred (Work) Chase.
He is further survived by 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to St. Vincent Hospital’s 4th Floor ICU team especially Hunter, Jake, Geronimo and Rebecca, along with the 8th Floor nurse, Mo.
Friends are invited to call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main Street East, Girard, on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 2:00 P.M. until time of Memorial Service at 4:00 P.M. Burial will be private.
