Merton L. Osborn age 87, of Erie, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge.
He was born in Erie on August 28, 1934, son of the late Carl W. and Eva L. (Spires) Osborn.
Merton was a 1952 graduate of Academy High School and attended Penn State Behrend. Merton owned and operated Osborn Farms, their family’s egg farm, where he was devoted to egg production and marketing for over 30 years. He also worked for Wegmans’ meat department for 8 years.
He was a member of Summit United Methodist Church, and served on the Administrative Board for several years. He was also a member of the Summit Lions Club for many years. He enjoyed photography, traveling and working outside in his flower garden. His biggest joy was his family, and he treasured the special bond he and Marlene had with the grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Merton was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marlene and a brother-in law, Bert Hyatt.
He is survived by two daughters, Michelle Lindenberger of FL, and Marla Brace and her husband Eric of Erie; three grandchildren, Kyle Brace of Erie, Danielle and Brielle Lindenberger, of FL; a sister, Beverly A. Hyatt, of Maryland.
Services and Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, Erie, PA 16506.
