Melvin Seely

Melvin Glenn Seely, age 78, of Millcreek, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Franklin, PA on September 27, 1937 son of the late Raymond Everet and Margaret Ann Morrison Seely.

Glenn attended Academy High School and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a structural iron worker and a proud member of the IW Local 348. Glenn was a longtime member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he sung in the choir and the praise band. He was also involved with Koinonia of Erie County.

Glenn’s greatest love was his wife and his family. He spent many hours attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and volunteering at his church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Kenneth Ray Seely.

Glenn is survived by his wife Jane W. Seely, two children, Daniel P. Seely and his wife Paula of Corry and Elaine Buckel and her husband John of McKean, six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street, (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service at Asbury United Methodist Church, 4703 West Ridge Road, Erie, PA 16506, on Monday at 3 p.m. with Reverend Bruce Davis officiating.

Burial will be private.
