Melva Olesnanik

Melva Olesnanik, age 85, of Girard, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born in Erie, PA on February 23, 1937, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Bricker Vorse.

Melva graduated from Northwestern High School in 1955.  She worked as an assembler in manufacturing.  She enjoyed gardening, playing BINGO and cards, watching Judge Judy, reading Harlequin romance novels and gambling at the Moose Club.  Melva was a member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold, Ralph Jr. and John Vorse; her sisters, Edith Kinney and Ann Goodreau and by a grandson, Jake Nesbitt.

Melva is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edward “Carl” Olesnanik; daughters, Patricia (Joe) Kitza of Springboro, Linda (Tim) Blount and Diane (Dale) Rogers, all of Girard; five grandchildren, Nic, Tim, Carly, Daniel and Emily; two sisters, Mary Fitch and Eileen Crandell; two brothers, Chuck and Frank Vorse.  She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard on Monday from 1:00pm until the time of service at 3:00pm.  Burial to follow in Saint John Cemetery.
