Melody Evans

Melody Evans (Moorhead) was born May 17, 1955. She died on May 19, 2023 at the age of 68. 

Melody passed away 2 days after undergoing cardiac arrest.  She received a blue pill from someone she trusted, someone she didn’t think would hurt her. In the two seconds it took for her to put the pill in her mouth and washed it down, her life and our world changed. 

Melody, like millions of others, lived with constant pain daily. The solution was surgery in which she couldn’t receive. No one truly knows, except one, how this pill was presented to her. All that is known is that she had it for a while and on her 68^th birthday she took it because her back was in more pain than usual.  

Melody was born, raised, and lived primarily in the Erie area. She was a 1974 graduate of Harborcreek High School. She married Jimmy Evans in 1976 . They had a son, Shawn Evans followed by a daughter Kerri Evans. 

Melody absolutely loved nature. She enjoyed taking children into the creeks and woods to show them how to appreciate these environments. She had a love for animals, especially birds. Whether they were in her own backyard from the copious amount of feeders or spending time at Presque Isle. Melody was a proud cat mom. She doted over her cats and grand dog. 

Melody had a true gift of finding or crafting something special for people in her life. She paid attention to detail and with her caring heart, she would make a card or give something little to brighten someone’s day. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Mecklen Moorhead; a sister, Bonni Burke; her husband, Jimmy Evans; a nephew, TJ Williamson and her precious cat Callie. 

Melody is survived by a daughter, Kerri Evans; a son, Shawn Evans (Alicia); a granddaughter, Paityn Evans; a cousin, Katherine Moorhead; her cat Chloe and several nieces, nephews and beloved friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Whitford Park on August, 20th  2023 at 1 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the Funeral Home.
