Matthew Moon

Matthew Robert Moon, age 56, of Erie, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born in Erie on August 13, 1958 son of Kathryn Knablein Moon and the late Robert G. Moon.

Matthew was a 1976 graduate of Tech Memorial High School concentrating in the masonry program. He worked as a contractor for many local companies including Baldwin Brothers. He volunteered his construction services for many local organizations including the Marx Toy Museum. His work was his hobby and he enjoyed working with his dad and his son Matt. He liked monster trucks (and built his own) and also enjoyed traveling and camping.

Along with his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents and many aunts and uncles.

In addition to his mother, he survived by a son, Matthew R. Ballman and his wife Colette, a grandson, Austin Ballman, a sister Stacey Moon and Mike Tromans, his fiancée, Trina Chiarelli and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th Street,(at Powell Ave.) on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 11 am with the Reverend Harry Johns, III officiating.
