Matthew Hess, age 30, of Girard, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, February 28, 2016.
He was born in Erie on December 3, 1985, a son of David Hess and the late Suzanne Zabrosky Hess.
Matthew graduated from Fairview High School in 2004. After working for Insulright, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a Seabee. He then went on to work at Erie Sand and Gravel. Matthew was currently working for Chivers Construction.
He enjoyed any outdoor activities, especially hunting with his Dad, fishing, riding bikes and golfing. Matthew loved spending time with friends and family, especially with his wife and daughter.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his uncle, Jimmy Hess, and grandparents: Bob and Nancy Zabrosky, and Elsie and John Newcamp.
Matthew is survived by his wife, Megan Corbin Hess and their daughter Alexandria; two brothers: Nick (Kailye) Hess and Samuel Hess and a niece, Elizabeth Hess. He is further survived by Megan’s family: her parents, Dan and Beth Corbin, her sister, Kristin (Christopher) Preston; and brothers: Brandon (Jenna) Moran and Ryan (Heather) Moran; a niece, Olivia Moran; and nephew Brady Moran; as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and friends.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, in Girard on Friday from 4-7pm and then on Saturday at Weis Library United Methodist Church, 6020 Heidler Rd., Fairview, from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm with Reverend Joseph Preston officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
