Matthew Briggs

Matthew Terrell Briggs, age 37, of Erie, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 2, 2018.  He was born in Erie on April 10, 1981, the son of David T. and Nancy Morrison Briggs.

Matthew graduated from McDowell High School in 2000 and Penn State Behrend in 2010.  He worked in various departments of Erie Plating Company, most recently in customer service.  Matthew was a member of Perry-Keystone Lodge No. 392 F.&A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Erie and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR).  He was fascinated with the world, including politics and religion.  He had a curious nature about everything and how it worked.  Matthew was also creative, enjoying architecture, drawing and great music of all sorts.   He loved his summers at Chautauqua where he taught sailing at the Boys and Girls Club.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Janet Dunning Briggs and maternal grandparents, Hubert and Virginia Graham Morrison.

In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his paternal grandfather, Lewis T. Briggs, Jr., his aunts and uncles, Merrilee A. and Roger C. Hindman, Christine B. and Paul Elbert, and Robert W. and Renie S. Morrison.  He is further survived by his cousins, Scott R. Morrison, Jeffrey R. Morrison, Rachel E. Ligatti, Katie E. Enos, Daniel C. Elbert, J. Michael Hindman, Andrew R. Elbert and Benjamin C. Hindman.
