Matilda Jordan

Matilda E. “Betty” Jordan, age 97, of Erie, passed away on May 21, 2021 at Manchester Commons.

She was born in Chester, WV on January 15, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Addie Biles Rood. She was orphaned at the age of 10 and lived at the Anderson Children’s Home until the age of 18 when she moved to Pittsburgh, PA and met her husband and lifelong partner, Paul Jordan who preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage. She worked as a wrapper in the Meat Department at Loblaws, Inc. for 31 years. She was a member of First Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where she created and managed the senior shuffleboard league for many years.

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Goodworth, Ida Post, and Lucille Reese, and five brothers, Alexander, Arthur, Clyde, Fred and Walter Rood.

She is survived by five daughters, Dorothy Kaluzny, St. Petersburg, FL, Sarah Rose (Joseph), Travelers Rest SC, Mary Clark (Robert), Ormond Beach, FL, Paula Dorris (Joseph), Erie, and Carol Rose (Jerry), Erie, eleven grandchildren; Jeanette Kaluzny, Anthony Kaluzny, Sandra Waechter, Melissa Rose, Rebecca Rose, Christopher Young, Benjamin Rose, Matthew Rose, Zoe Dorris, Deva Dorris, and Piper Dorris, eleven great grandchildren,  three great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 602 West 10^th St., on Friday June 4^th from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
