MaryAnn Dimattio, age 80, of Erie, passed away on Thursday Nov. 23, 2017, at Sarah Reed Senior Living. She was born on March 26, 1937, a daughter of the late Blaise and Lillian (Bednarowicz) Zaczyk.
MaryAnn graduated from Academy High School in 1955.
MaryAnn met her husband, the late William “Bill” DiMattio, while working at Marx Toys. After their marriage, the two began working at General Electric, where they both retired after 35 years of service.
MaryAnn’s family and spending time with them meant the world to her and she very much enjoyed being the matriarch of her large family.
She was very active and enjoyed bowling, gardening and especially playing the slots at the casino.
MaryAnn was very creative, and enjoyed crocheting and embroidery work. All of her family and friends have enjoyed beautiful afghans that she made. She loved preparing holiday meals for the whole family.
MaryAnn also enjoyed watching sports on T.V., especially a good football game or car race.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children: Debra (Wesley) Stoops of Colorado, Marianne (Daniel) Ouellet of Erie, and Diane (Jeffrey) Lux of Erie; nine grandchildren: Erica (Mike) Paschal, Scott (Ashley) Burick, Colleen (Clark) Davis, Corey Burick, Mark Ouellet, Joe Ouellet, Jacob Ouellet, Nikki Lux, and Kimmy Lux; and five great grandchildren: Tori, Grace, Mila, Luca, and Liam. She is further survived by her brothers: George, Larry and Frank Zaczyk and her sisters: Theresa Adamus, Cecelia Heim, and Carol Ganza and several nieces and nephews.
MaryAnn touched countless lives with her kind, loving nature. She will be missed by many.
The family would like to thank MaryAnn’s caregivers at Sarah Reed Senior Living Center (Maple Unit) and Aesera Care Hospice for the loving care given to her.
Friends are invited to call on the family on Sunday, Nov. 26, at Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd. from 1:00 – 4:00 pm and are invited to attend services there on Monday, Nov. 27, at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
