Mary “Kay” Wright, 89, of Erie, passed away Friday, April 18, 2014 at her daughter’s home with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Newtown, IN, on December 2, 1924, the daughter of the late Ralph and Caroline
Miller Harris.
Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Jefferson High School, in Lafayette, Indiana, and St. Elizabeth
School of Nursing and St. Francis College.
She worked as a nurse in Florida and Colorado, and, locally, at Hamot Hospital and the Millcreek
School District, from where she retired after twenty-three years’ service.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and a volunteer for the Hamot Aid Society.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda of Wilmington, NC; a brother, James Harris and a sister, Esther Broom.
She is survived by a daughter, Kit Swanson, of Erie; two sons, Jim Wright, of Hampton, VA, and Bill Wright, of Boulder, CO. Also survived by seven grandchildren & two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attended a service at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th
St. on Monday at 12:00 p.m. Private burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
