Mary Louise “ Mary Lou” Hubler Wren, of Erie, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Elmwood Gardens. Her family is grateful that after a twenty year struggle with Alzheimer’s she is finally at peace.
She was born in Youngstown, OH on June 28, 1923, the daughter of the late Edwin and Doris Klingensmith Hubler.
She graduated from Rand High School in Youngstown and went on to attend Youngstown University.
Mary Lou worked as a Dental Assistant for Dr. Charles Baker and was a Librarian Assistant at McDowell High School for 10 years.
She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church and the Lake Shore Garden Club.
Mary Lou was an avid gardener who had a creative artistic style, and loved to read.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Anthony Wren and a sister Caroline Jukes.
She is survived by two sons, Johnathan D. Wren and his wife Deborah of Erie and Clark Wren and his wife Janine of North Carolina; two daughters, Darcy Gauriloff and her husband Peter of Edinboro and Kim Wren of Warren; and four grandchildren, Peter Gauriloff, Leigh Gauriloff, Devon Meddock and Carly Wren.
Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W. 26th Street (at Powell Ave) on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
