Mary Elizabeth Glover Williams, age 90, of Millcreek, passed away Saturday October 11, 2014 at St. Mary’s Asbury Ridge, surrounded by her family.
She was born on October 28, 1923 in Ashtabula, OH, daughter of the later Lavern L. and Mary Elizabeth Basterfield Glover.
Mary was a 1942 graduate of Villa Maria Academy. After raising her children, she worked at Young’s Dry Cleaners and went on to become a department manager at the Joseph Horne Department Store. She and her late husband Ralph retired from their respective professions in 1982. Mary had been a member of the Early Bird and Flowerette bowling leagues at Greengarden Lanes. She was also active in the North East Sewing Guild, the Pioneer Garden Club, and the St. Julia’s Rosary Society. Mary’s proudest role in life was being a mother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph E. Williams. They were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary before Ralph passed away in January 1994. She was also preceded by a son, David; daughter, Ann Rodgers; granddaughter Alissa Kilner; son-in-law Ron Rouleau; brothers Joseph, John, Thomas, and Edward Glover, and her infant siblings Jeanne Kathryn and Robert.
Mary is survived by eleven children: Virginia Rouleau , Richard and his wife Elizabeth, Paul, Daniel and his wife Pati, all of Erie, Mary Beth Bauer and her husband Lawrence of Steubenville, OH, Ralph Williams II and his wife Carol of New Bern, NC, Jeannette Kilner and her husband Jeffery of Titusville,OH, Jeanne Williams and her husband Robert Amsden of Ripon, WI, Sara Markle of Denver, CO, James and his wife Barbara of Tallmadge, OH and Kathryn Bernardo and her husband Donald of Chagrin Falls, OH; and daughter in law Frances McCaffrey of Amherst, OH. She is further survived by 29 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton West Lake Funeral Home, 3801 West 26th St (at Powell Ave.) on Tuesday from 3-7 pm and are invited to prayers there on Wednesday at 10:15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Julia Church at 11am with Celebrant Monsignor Allison. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
