Mary Harrison Reisinger Stevens, a grand lady with a fascinating heritage, passed away on June 6, 2017 at her home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where she resided for over 40 years. She was 97 years old. Mary was born on December 3, 1919 to Curt Hugo Reisinger and Mary Lodge McKee Reisinger in New York City, New York.
She graduated from Connecticut College in 1941. Mary was the Great Granddaughter of both President Benjamin Harrison, 23rd President of the United States, and Adolphus Busch founder of Anheuser-Busch Inc. She was also a direct descendant of William Henry Harrison, 9th President of United States and Benjamin Harrison of Virginia, a signer of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Mary was a caring, and generous mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She concentrated her philanthropy on animal welfare.
Her loving husband, Charles J. Stevens, preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Button) Cook, and her husband, Rod Cook, of Greer, SC, grandchildren Kelly Cook Kent and Charles (Chad) Cook and five great grandchildren, Lacey and Reid Cook, McKee, Ryder and Callen Kent. She is also survived by her son, Curt Reisinger Tobey of Boston, MA, grandchildren Benjamin Tobey, Celine Tobey Blechman, Caroline Tobey Dolan, Lorin M. Tobey, and four great grandchildren, Annie and Eloise Blechman, Blake and Jake Tobey.
Her burial service in Erie, PA will be private.
