Mary Louise Scott, age 88, of Erie and formerly of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Elmwood Gardens.
Born in Philadelphia, August 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith Blake Scott.
Mary was a graduate of Academy High School, class of 1952 and had been employed at St. Jude’s Rectory and also at Bridal Elegance. She was a member of St. Jude the ApostleChurch, the Pioneer Garden Club, Erie Aid’s Council, and a life member of Saint Vincent Auxiliary and the East Erie Turner Auxiliary. Mary was the founder and CEO of PFOG, Parents and Friends of Gays for many years.
She was preceded in death by her former husband of 36 years, James Tarbell, the love of her life; two children: her daughter, Judy Dahlkemper and son, Christopher Jeffrey Tarbell; a sister Edith Safford III and a brother, Retired Colonel Charles W. Scott and son-in-law, Richard T. (Rocky) Logue. Also, two special friends, Mary & Chuck Eisert and Fr. Charles Schmitt.
She is survived by her son Jamie Scott Tarbell, Wellington, New Zealand and two daughters Robin Green (Barbara Brennan) of Girard and Janice Logue of Chester, VA., a sister Alma Mushrush, Agawam, MA, five grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. She also had many special friends she treated as family; the Eisert’s and Bill Page and family.
The family would like to acknowledge the home health caregivers and the staff at Elmwood Gardens, who supported and loved her through her recent journey.
Friends may call at the Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, West Ridge, 3801 W. 26th St. on Sunday from 1:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 W. 6th St. on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in Erie Cemetery.
