Mary Schell

Mary A. "Marty" Schell age 84, of Erie, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness.

She was born in Barkeyville, PA on November 4, 1928 a daughter of the late Daniel and Cora Cokaine Williams.

Marty graduated from Grove City High School in 1946 and went on to graduate from Welch Business School in Oil City. She was a member of St. Julia's Roman Catholic Church. Marty was an excellent cook and enjoyed camping, golfing, and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with family, caring for her husband, her sons and daughters-in-law and and her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Ron Schell; four sisters, Jane Day, Bonnie Tuttle, Kate Atwell and Sara Braden and two brothers, Martin and Glenn Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John "Huck" Schell; son John Schell and his wife Liz and their children, Dan and his wife Stephanie and Laura and her daughter Cora; son Dan "Chip" Schell and his wife Lisa and their children Ally and Tyler; and a sister Margaret Wike and her husband Tad. She is further survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the convenience of the family by the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 W 26th Street Erie, PA 16506.

The family would like to thank the staff at UPMC Hamot for the loving and compassionate care Mary received during her illness.
