Mary Rose Eckert

Mary Rose Eckert, age 92, of Erie, passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at St. Mary’s East.

She was born in Kersey, Pa., on June 4, 1922 a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Malone Sennett.

Rose was a 1940 graduate of Kersey High School.

She was an active member of St. Jude the Apostle Church, was a wonderful homemaker, and loved baking. Rose had a great sense of humor, enjoyed traveling, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Rose was preceded in death by her husband James A. Eckert in 1990 along with six brothers, Edward, Thomas, George, Bill, Jack and Dick, and her sister Helen Smith.

Rose is survived by five daughters; Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Ehrensberger of Erie, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Lohse of North East, Mrs. Richard (Joanie) Maholtz of Rio Rancho, NM, Debbie Grotkowski of Erie, Mrs. Greg (Joyce) Kuykendall of Fairfax, VA; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Burton Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 602 West Tenth Street, Erie, Pa. 16502 on Sunday December 28th, from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to a prayer service there on Monday at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 2801 West 6th Street, Erie, Pa. with Father John Detisch officiating.

Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
