Mary Price

Mary E. Ringer Price, age 77 of Erie, passed away at St. Vincent Health Center on Friday, January 29, 2016.

She was born on February 27, 1938 in Fairfield, Alabama, a daughter of the late Robert Lee Evans and Katherine Taylor.

On April 14, 1941, Katherine was wed to Zeff Hawkins in Talladega, Alabama. From that time on, Zeff became Mary’s father, and remained so until his death on July 19, 1992. He was a poor farmer who provided the best he could.

Mary grew up in Enterprise, Mississippi and attended grade school there. She graduated from high school in Quitman, MS.

She migrated to Erie, PA and was employed by numerous places including Erie Technological Products for 12 years (Erie Resistor), and St. Vincent Health Center for 19 years until her retirement in April, 2000.

Mary became a foster grandparent in April, 2003. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an uncle, William Portis.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a son James Ringer of Greensboro, NC, a daughter Patricia Jones of Erie, three grandchildren: Paige Cooper of Lubbock, TX, Jonathan Ringer of Augusta, GA, Javany Vaughn of Erie, and one great granddaughter, Bella Jae Ringer.

Friends may call at Antioch Baptist Church, 160 West 20th St. on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon with Pastor Floyd R. McClure officiating.

Burial in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
