Mary Lou Dey, age 86, of Katy, TX and formerly of Erie, died on Thursday February 12, 2015 at her home in Katy, TX. She was born on February 16, 1928 in Corry, a daughter of the late Helen Purcell and Earl Haight.
Mary Lou graduated from Corry High School and attended Mercyhurst College. She worked as a lab technician at various Doctors' offices in Erie. She was a former member of St. Andrew Church. She and her late husband, Jack were members of Lake Shore Country Club for many years. She enjoyed her Bridge Club, bowling and traveling whenever she had the opportunity. She was happiest when she was around her many grandchildren and was well known for her sharp wit and “belly laugh”.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Jack Dey, her sister Margaret “Peg” Kinney and her brother Roger Haight.
She is survived by her four children: Janet (Gary) Eames of Richwood, TX, David (Tammy) Dey of San Antonio, TX, John (Susan) Dey Jr. of Erie, and Kathy (Powell) Ytsma of Katy, TX; ten grandchildren; and her brother Richard Haight and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 602 West 10th St. on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm and are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Andrew’s Church, 1116 W. 7th St. Burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
