July 5, 1928 — July 18, 2021

Mary Lichtenwalter, age 93, beloved wife and mother, died heroically from injuries sustained in a fluke poolside, wind gust, accident while she was enjoying her family. Mary was resting quietly at her Fairview home on Sunday July 18th when she was accompanied by the angels to heaven, joining her cherished husband of more than 50 years, Fred Lichtenwalter, on the day that would have been his 104th birthday.

Mary is survived by her beloved children, Fred/Kelly, Sally, John, and James Lichtenwalter; two wonderful daughters-in-law, Wendy, and Jing Lichtenwalter; and seven grandchildren who brought her great joy, Katie Seeley, Jeremy and Jada Lichtenwalter, Jimmy and Jake Lichtenwalter and Morgan Wallace and Sean Lichtenwalter; four great- grandchildren, including her beloved Hallia Seeley; her very dear sisters, Sally and Betsy Mahoney and many well-loved nieces and nephews; and her loyal friend and caregiver, Wilma Urgel.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Elizabeth and Gordon Mahoney, as well as her siblings and their spouses Peggy and Jack Watson and James and Mary Mahoney.

A strong woman of faith, Mary attended daily mass most her life. She was also a woman of amazing talents. Mary was a golfer, champion bridge player, accomplished seamstress, skilled at furniture re-upholstery and wall papering, an avid reader and an excellent cook and homemaker.

Mary traveled extensively with her husband Fred prior to his death in 2007. Often, they could be seen holding hands while journeying throughout the US, Europe, and the Caribbean.

Mary was devoted to her family and will be sadly missed.

Mary’s family had a private Funeral Mass with burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
