Mary Lepkowski

January 20, 1938 — December 15, 2021

It’s a sad day for our family to announce that the Lord has called our mother home, Mary Lepkowski (Domka Gomolekoff), 83 years old to be reunited with her husband on December 15, 2021.

Mary is the youngest daughter of the late John Gomolekoff and the late Irene (Federoff) (Gomolekoff) Menear.  She was born in Erie on January 20, 1938.

Mary was a bit of a tom boy growing up, with her pig tails, jumping trains, and her many trips to Chestnut pool.   Mom was well known for working at Mason’s Department store, and Value City East.  She worked in many departments, but retired as the receiving manager in 1998, with 35 years of service.

She loved spending time with her siblings and her in-law family, but she was very devoted to her children and grandchildren.  We hold special memories in our hearts, of every weekend loading up the car, and going to the beach.  We would be there from sunrise until sunset.  We would meet her siblings and their families on beach 8, we use to call it Gomolekoff Beach, we have so many special memories there.

She enjoyed every summer going to Alleghany, Red House to camp.  Then she would look forward to every fall driving back up there with the family for that last fall picnic, it was her excuse to see the leaves turning colors.

Mom enjoyed getting together with her family and her card club to play cards.  She enjoyed getting together around the holidays, just to see her children and grandchildren.  No matter how much she loved us, we all knew not to call during her Cleveland Indians games and if you showed up and heard the screaming, you knew to come in and don’t speak until a commercial.   If you could not find her in front of the television watching her Indians, you would find her at the Casino, I hate to tell my siblings, but they took your inheritance from you.  You never, ever left her house hungry and her favorite saying was get in there and make a plate and we always had to have several pieces of her homemade pies and each of us always got to take a pie or two home.

In addition to her parents, she will join her husband Joseph Lepkowski whom she was married to for 44 years, her son in law Donald McMahon her coffee klatch buddy, her sisters Agnes O’Brien, Kaya Metzler, Marge McBride, Ann (Tania) Jaskiewicz, and her brothers Pete and Nick Gomolekoff.

We praise God that we were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to share part of her life with her.  She leaves her children behind to cherish her memory, her traditions, and her all her delicious recipes, Jan McMahon, Joe (Cheryl) Lepkowski, Chris (Mike) Kobierski of Greenwood IN, & Sue (Steve) Bernhardt.  Her grandchildren, Kim (Derek) Smith, Mark McMahon, Angela Lepkowski, Ron (Danielle) Francis, Amber Francis, Mike Kobierski (Jessica) , Stephanie, & Jessica Kobierski (Tyler), Nicole Clark (Nick) & Jeremy Clark, Maggie & Emily Bernhardt.  Her Great Grandchildren, Katie, Kayle, Miranda, Alanna, Lucas, Jacob, Hayden, Noah, Asia Lynn and Colton.  Her great, great grandchild, Dante.   Her brother Anthony (Charlene) Gomo and many nieces & nephews.

Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to Nightingale Nursing & Rehab Center, Gallagher Unit., especially to Darlene, Julie, and Angie, and to all the other Nurses, Aides, and the housekeeping staff, for taking such good care of our mother, we know how much of a handful she was and you did this with a smile on your face and with such compassion and love.

Family and Friends may console the immediate family who will miss her dearly at Quinn Funeral Home 728 West 9th Street, on Saturday, December 18, 2021 from 10:00 am until 12 noon.   Burial will be private at the request of our mother.  Mary and her family would like to decline any flowers, but mom wanted to let you all know that the thought was very kind.  Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, resting next to her husband.

We Love you Mom, you will always be in our hearts and you will be truly missed.
