Mary Laird

Mary Ann (Passmore) Laird, age 90, of Erie, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Sarah Reed Senior Living Center. She was born in Erie on April 21, 1928, daughter to the later Clayton and Clara Heinlein Passmore.

Mary’s family was always of the utmost importance to her, she loved caring for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and often watched baseball and other sports on TV. Mary was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church for 70 years.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Phillip “Pap” Laird, a brother, Larry Passmore, and her grandson, Matt Laird.

She is survived by her two sons, Gary Laird (Patricia) of Erie, and Greg Laird and his fiancée Jan Opperman of McKees Rocks, PA; three grandchildren, Patrice Messinger (Rick), Monica Laird, and Jennifer Ramm (Brian), and five great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Gabriella, and Theodore Ramm, and Norah and Aidyn Messinger, as well as a dear niece, Judy Richter (Lou).

The family would like to sincerely thank Sarah Reed’s staff at Zurn Pavilion and Reed House.

Friends are invited to call at the Quinn Funeral Home, West 9th & Liberty St. on Monday from 4:00 -7:00 PM and are invited to attend Prayer Services there Tuesday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery.
