Mary Laflamme

Mary Anne Yeager LaFlamme, age 80, of Waterford, passed away Thursday June 5, 2014 at UPMC Hamot. She was born in Erie November 14, 1933, daughter of the late Emeric L. and Elizabeth J. Csernyicky Yeager.

Mary Anne graduated from Millcreek High School. She studied at the National School of Dress Design and for many years did dressmaking for private clientele. She placed third in the McCalls National Sewing Contest. She loved to sew; designed and sewed her own clothing, and had a collection of over 750 patterns from the 1920’s to the present time. She also enjoyed knitting and spent many happy hours working in her extensive flower gardens.

Mary Anne was employed at Erie Insurance Exchange, where she meet her late husband, and as a bookkeeper at Erie Airways and E. F. Yeager, P.A. She also worked as a computer support person for the Engineering Department of General Electric. She served on the Waterford Borough Council and the Planning Commission. She was a member of St. George Church.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ernest A. LaFlamme Jr. in 1970; a brother Ernest F. Yeager and a bother-in-law Donald Davino.

Mary Anne is the beloved mother of Gregory (Marlo) of Union City, Joseph (Cindy Lancaster) of Downingtown PA, Christopher (Michele) of McKean and Timothy (Carol) of Coatesville PA. She is further survived by six grandchildren Jennifer (Jason) Stone of VA, Cheri (Joseph) Szcodronski of NC, Jessica LaFlamme of Millcreek, Amy (Donald) Twining of Erie, Denise (Jeremiah) Decker of Coatesville and Timothy “T.J.” LaFlamme of Waterford; two step-grandchildren Robert (Michele) Wardrop of OH Christopher (Nicole) Wardrop of McKean and eight great grandchildren Christopher, Sayge, Alexander, Zechariah, Katelynn, Anthony, Aiden and Brayden. Also surviving are three brothers; Emery J. Yeager of Erie, Earl T. (Stephanie) Yeager of OH and Edward A. Yeager of FL; a sister Elizabeth I. Davino of AL; two sisters-in-law Shirley Yeager and Florence Ann Briggs both of Erie and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Westlake Funeral Home 3801 West 26th Street (at Powell Ave.) on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday from 9:30 until the time of prayers at 10:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am at St. Julia Church 3750 West Lake Road with Msgr. Bruce Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
