Mary Jane Heininger Zaun, 91, of Erie, died on Monday, March 28, 2016, at Edinboro Manor. She was born on March 20, 1925, in Erie, PA, daughter of the late William A. and Catherine Riley Heininger.
A 1943 graduate of Lawrence Park High School, she was an executive secretary working for Erisco Industries, General Electric, and Hammermill Paper, retiring in 1986. She had also worked for Gary's Flower Shoppe for over 30 years. Mary Jane was an active bowler and was past-president of Erie Women's Bowling Association. She loved her sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates Baseball fan and a Pittsburgh Steeler Football fan. She enjoyed playing poker at the casino and playing Bridge with friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Roy P. Zaun, in 1987; a sister, Katie Scalen; and a brother, Arthur Heininger.
Survivors include two sons, Philip J. Zaun of Mentor, OH, and Stephen D. Zaun and wife Debbie of Lawrence Park, PA; a granddaughter, Aislinn Inman and husband Devan of Painesville, OH; a grandson, Danyon Zaun and wife Shannon of Mentor, OH; and several nieces and nephews. She is further survived by many friends including her dear friend, George Ames of Erie.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery Chapel on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 12 Noon. The Rev. Richard A. Moyer will officiate.
