Mary Hayden

Mary Hayden, age 101, formerly of Martin’s Landing, Girard, passed away Sunday June 12, 2016 at Fairview Manor.

She was born in Pottsville, PA on September 18, 1914, a daughter of the late Dominic and Rose Scarpelo Angelo.

Mary worked at Horne’s and Halle’s department stores selling men’s clothing. She was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church. Mary loved cooking and taking care of people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Hayden, Sr. in 1994; two brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her son, William Hayden, Jr. and his wife Sharrell of Lake City; seven grandchildren: John P. Hayden, W. Louis Hayden, Gary S. Hayden, Randy Hayden, Cindy Mannarelli, Robert J. Hayden and Laurie A. Stevens; 13 great grandchildren, 10 great great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. East, Girard, today, Tuesday June 14th from 4-7 pm and on Wednesday from 10 until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Msgr. Robert Brugger, officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fairview Manor and Regional Home Health Hospice for the loving and compassionate care given to their mother and grandmother.
